Something can happen to you that you did not deserve.
Someone can betray you.
Someone can mistreat you.
Someone can leave damage behind that you now have to carry.
None of that requires you to pretend it didn’t hurt.
But there is a difference between acknowledging that you were wounded and building your identity around the wound.
I can acknowledge what someone did to me while still asking:
What am I going to do now?
That question returns power to my hands.
I may not have chosen what happened.
But I still have choices about what happens next.
Reflection Question:
Where have you confused acknowledging your pain with surrendering your power to it?
