I reached over to silence my alarm.
My phone was already in my hand.
The old version of me would’ve checked the notifications.
Just for a second.
One message.
One scroll.
But I asked myself a different question.
“Would the disciplined, focused man I’m becoming do this?”
The answer was no.
So I put the phone down.
Nothing on that screen required my immediate attention.
Everything important could wait.
That moment wasn’t really about my phone.
It was about identity.
The biggest transformations rarely happen through dramatic decisions.
They happen through hundreds of ordinary moments that no one else will ever notice.
Every decision teaches your brain who you are.
Choose distraction enough times, and you become a distracted person.
Choose discipline enough times, and you become a disciplined person.
Every action is a vote.
The only question is:
Who are you voting for today?
Reflection Question:
What small decision do you repeatedly make that is quietly shaping the person you’re becoming?
