There are countless ways to avoid ourselves.
Work.
Entertainment.
Food.
Scrolling.
Sex.
Noise.
Anything that prevents us from sitting still long enough to hear what’s happening inside.
But avoidance doesn’t heal anything.
It delays the conversation.
Eventually there comes a moment when you have to pick up the pen, sit in the silence, pray, think, and confront whatever you’ve been trying not to see.
That process can be uncomfortable.
Good.
Some truths hurt before they heal.
I would rather experience the temporary discomfort of confronting myself than spend years unknowingly controlled by something I refused to face.
Reflection Question:
What truth keeps resurfacing every time the distractions disappear?
