They repeat affirmations.

They tell themselves they’re capable.

They hope confidence eventually appears.

But I’ve been thinking about something different.

What if confidence doesn’t begin with you?

What if it begins with who you follow?

In my journal today, I wrote the words:

“I am inevitable.”

Not because I believe I’m special.

Not because I think success is guaranteed.

But because I know the One I follow.

If God truly calls someone toward meaningful work, then every obstacle becomes temporary.

There may be setbacks.

There may be years where almost nobody notices.

There may even be failure by the world’s standards.

None of that changes the assignment.

When your confidence is rooted in yourself, criticism shakes you.

When it’s rooted in God, criticism simply becomes another part of the journey.

That changes everything.

Because now the question isn’t,

“Will this work?”

The question becomes,

“Will I remain faithful?”

Those are two completely different ways of living.

One is outcome-driven.

The other is obedience-driven.

Ironically, the second person usually accomplishes far more.

They aren’t constantly checking whether they’re winning.

They’re simply focused on doing today’s work well.

The outcome eventually catches up.

Where has your confidence become dependent on circumstances instead of the One who never changes?
